Venerable Master Shen-Kai

Venerable Master Shen-Kai's life story is a testament to wisdom, compassion, and selflessness.

Born in 1918 in Guizhou, China, he displayed remarkable qualities from an early age, showing wisdom and compassion far beyond his years. By the tender age of five, he was already proficient in treating illnesses with herbal remedies. At seven, his advanced literary ability and profound insight were evident when he spontaneously composed poetry reflecting on the illusion of worldly life while standing on Lotus Mountain.

Enlightened at twelve, Venerable Master Shen-Kai pursued formal education and graduated from Zhejiang University, ascending to the position of a county head by the age of 20. However, his true calling lay in the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment and the service of humanity. Embracing Buddhism wholeheartedly, he became a monk, dedicating his life to spreading joy and rejuvenating Buddhist teachings for the benefit of society.

Venerable Master Shen-Kai authored over a hundred books on Buddhist practice and established Jen Chen Buddhism centres worldwide. His teachings transcended borders as he travelled the globe, offering Dharma talks that resonated deeply with audiences. With the wisdom of an enlightened teacher, he conveyed profound truths with simplicity and clarity, inspiring countless individuals to awaken to their own inner wisdom through the practice of the Bodhisattva Way.

Recognized as the promoting teacher of World Jen Chen Buddhism, Venerable Master Shen-Kai's contributions to humanity are revered globally. His compassionate vows to guide humanity towards enlightenment and to create a blissful world continue to inspire generations. With the true spirit of a Bodhisattva, he dedicated his life to the well-being of all beings, aspiring for a future where suffering is transcended, and happiness and enlightenment are realized by all.

Founder of
Australia Buddhist Bliss Culture Mission
Venerable Jayru

Venerable Jayru's journey is one of unwavering dedication and boundless compassion in her quest to spread the teachings of Buddhism, following the footsteps of her teacher, Venerable Master Shen-Kai.

In her early twenties, fuelled by a deep sense of purpose and a yearning for spiritual fulfilment, she made the courageous decision to leave her home country of Singapore and embark on a transformative journey to Taiwan. There, she took the sacred vows of ordination, committing herself to a life dedicated to the pursuit of enlightenment as a monastic.

In 1996, Venerable Jayru's path led her to the serene shores of Perth, Australia. Undeterred by the unfamiliarity of her surroundings and knowing all but one person in Perth, she began her noble endeavour by hosting weekly congregations in a modest house in Canning Vale. With tireless determination and unwavering resolve, she reached out to the community, sharing the profound teachings of the Buddha and offering guidance to all who sought it.

Through her diligent efforts and sincere devotion, Venerable Jayru garnered support and raised funds to further her mission. Eventually, her unwavering dedication inspired a generous donor to contribute a piece of land. With the collective efforts of the community, Venerable Jayru spearheaded the establishment of the current premises at 21 Woodthorpe Drive, Willetton, where the Australia Buddhist Bliss Culture Mission (ABBCM) found its permanent home.

Throughout her journey, Venerable Jayru never lost sight of her initial resolve and guiding aspiration, which is to serve as a bridge, facilitating the encounter between the local community and the profound wisdom of the Dharma. Her fervent vow is to lead all sentient beings across tothe shores of enlightenment and liberation, nurturing a culture of spiritual realisation, awakening and collective bliss in Australia and beyond.
